Planning and Writing your Thesis

Are you half way through your research degree and beginning to wonder how you will ever collect your ideas into a thesis? Planning and Writing Your Thesis examines the purpose of a thesis and presents a structured approach to planning the document that meets the university's requirements. It emphasises time management strategies that will maximise your chances of finishing on time.

Before this course, please be prepared to:

  1. Bring a copy of a thesis that has been recently submitted by somone working in your department.
  2. Review the University's rules and guidelines on submission of theses (Section 9 of the Code of Practice)

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify key readers and decision makers
  • Determine the key message of the thesis
  • Develop an examiner-appropriate structure
  • Employ a writing method that makes good use of scarce time
