Join our Sports, Exercise and Health team for an interactive session discussing guidance and support for desk based workers. This session will cover:
Introduction to posture and ergonomics, referencing 2020 data on the increase in work-related musculoskeletal pain with increased numbers working from home.
“Good posture” versus “poor posture” - dispelling the myth with contemporary advice on incorporating regular movement and changes to working position
Home working set-up - advice on ergonomic adjustments, in addition to software useful for preventing and managing RSI, and simple exercises to perform at your desk and during the working day.
The role of other aspects of wellbeing such as stress management, nutrition, hydration and general fitness and exercise in preventing work related pain.

This session will be delivered by Patricia Collins MCSP SRP, University of Bristol Sports Medicine Clinic
Patricia is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist who has a specialist interest in ergonomics and occupational health. She has extensive experience relating to the workplace with a long career including working for the NHS and MOD, and several years as consultant physiotherapist in occupational health. She continues to work at the University of Bristol Sports Medicine Clinic where she assesses and treats occupational health patients alongside her regular clinics. Patricia’s approach to occupational health encapsulates every aspect of the individual’s life and wellbeing, ensuring the best possible outcome in a timely manner.
