The Starting to Teach for Technicians Workshop has been specifically designed for technicians to support you in the role you play in teaching across different types of contexts including labs, practicals, small group teaching and 1:1 coaching. Through the workshop you will acquire the knowledge and skills to establish yourselves as confident and effective teachers that engages, encourages and develop students.
The content of the workshop has its foundations in the theories of teaching and learning but will give delegates the opportunity to link these to their actual workplace experiences in a practical way. During the 2 days there will be discussion and reflection time, as well as group activities and mini teach sessions. The programme includes: exploring the role of the teacher, assessing learning needs and outcomes, communication skills, structuring teaching sessions, teaching methods, handling difficult situations, reflective practice, and types and methods of assessment.
Who this course is aimed at: Any member of Technical staff involved in teaching students across different types of context including labs, practicals, small group teaching and 1:1 coaching.
