Transport of Radioactive Materials - Refresher Training

The aims of this course are to provide attendees with the required refresher training to allow them to transport 'Excepted' and 'Type A' packages containing radioactive material by road, and to satisfy the requirements of The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 and the European Agreement for the Transport of Dangerous Goods (ADR) 2013.

The course consists of attendees reading a current university secotr guidance document 'Transport of Radioactive Materials by Road' 2010 Edition (AURPO Guidance NOte No. 6) and then completing a multiple choice test paper.
Pre-Requisites Those requiring transport of radioactive materials refresher training should have attended the initial transport of radioactive materials course no longer than 5 years ago.

Objectives At the end of this course attendees should:

  • Have the required knowledge to ensure compliance with the law when transporting radioactive material by roada and be familiar with the contingency planning for emergency situations.
  • Know who to contact in the event of an accident/ emergency.
Course charges Cancellation fee: Your Division/Faculty will incur a £50 charge should you fail to attend on the day or cancel your place any later than three full working days before the course.
Further information A certificate will be issued on obtaining a pass on the test paper. This will be sent to your School Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) in the first instance, who will then forward the certificate to you.
