Course overview

‘There is no such thing as time management. There is only the mindset that optimally manages the self and its actions’ - Tony Dovale

If you’ve been on time management workshops, tried a range of different tools, and none of the techniques stick then this workshop could be for you. Rather than looking at tools and techniques it focuses on how some of our behaviours and habits can negatively impact on our effectiveness and productivity at work.

We’ll explore how behaviours such as procrastination, perfectionism, lack of assertiveness, or the habit of flitting between jobs (butterflying/task hopping) can become unproductive forces that adversely impact on our working life. We’ll find ways to manage the behaviours that can hold you back from being more effective.

What we will cover:

  • The link between habits/behaviours and the way we work
  • Characteristics and impact of a range of behaviours – e.g. procrastination, perfectionism, lack of assertiveness, and butterflying/task hopping
  • A range of ways to manage unproductive aspects of behaviour

What you’ll leave with An individual action plan

What to do before you attend: Go to the on-line resource ‘Know How’ on the Staff Development webpages. Find the article ‘Identifying your time wasters’ and complete the attached spreadsheet. You do not need to complete ‘My plan of action’ prior to the workshop.

Who this course is aimed at: Anyone – e.g. those who may have tried other ‘time management’ methods or tools/techniques with limited success, or those who identify with any of the behaviours mentioned.
