Course overview

This one day workshop has been developed in response to requests for further support in this area, as well as to provide a consistent approach across the University. Furthermore it supports the University vision and strategy to nurture excellence and unlock potential.

What we will cover

  • Why managing performance matters
  • How to create conditions for best performance
  • Frameworks and best practice for use in real life situations
  • How to create an environment where there is clear understanding of what needs tobe accomplished
  • Understanding the similarities and differences between academic and professional services staff 
  • What to do when performance is slipping, or doesn't improve
  • Practical tools and real life example case studies - reviewed and discussed in groups enabling shared learning

  • Manage performance with increased confidence and skill
  • Review what actions to follow up within your own team
  • Understood how to create clarity when setting goals
  • Make use of techniques to turn around situations when performance is slipping

What to do before you attend: Please come along prepared to discuss any performance related situations which you have come across when managing both high performers and poor performers.
