Disrupting Racism – It Starts With You. The Staff Inclusion Team invite you to take part in this new development programme, designed to support all of us on our journey towards becoming anti-racist.
Who this programme is aimed at: This course is open to all staff – we all have a responsibility to tackle racism in society and in our workplace.
The Context Once you have booked your place and one week before The Talk, you will be given access to resources via Sharepoint. This comprises a mix of articles and videos to provide you with a general awareness and understanding prior to The Talk.
The Talk Dr Jason Arday, Associate Professor, Durham University, will deliver The Talk that will explore key themes in relation to racism, privilege, and how to actively disrupt racism. This 90-minute session will help develop a greater understanding of racism and how each of us has a crucial role in tackling racism in the spaces we occupy, including our workplace.
Your Journey Being anti-racist is a journey - The Talk was just the beginning. We have created a range of on-line resources to support your with your continuous learning in this area. These resources should be accessed after your attendance at The Talk and will be refreshed periodically.

Further information Cancellation fee: Your Division/Faculty will incur a £50 charge should you fail to attend on the day or cancel your place any later than three full working days before the course.
Sickness: If you are unable to attend the course due to sickness, please can you or a member of your team notify us by email (email@example.com) as soon as possible on the day of the course, if not before.
Waiting list: Staff Development will operate a waiting list should this course become full. Because of this, places are non-transferable between colleagues.
