Course overview

This short workshop, run by UK charity Centre for Thriving Places, will provide a foundational experiential understanding of the why, what and how of wellbeing.

What we will cover

  • Learn about the most up to date evidence on the benefits of wellbeing
  • Explore a simple strengths-based approach to boosting workplace wellbeing
  • Learn at least one way to boost your personal wellbeing
  • Understand how to measure progress in wellbeing

What you’ll leave with:

  • Understand why wellbeing matters
  • Be aware of a simple and accessible ways to boost your wellbeing
  • Be equipped to have wellbeing conversations with others
  • Have an idea of what you can do next to build your wellbeing
  • Know how to measure your wellbeing with the Happiness Pulse
  • Recognise different team wellbeing needs and how you might support them
  • Be stimulated to have ongoing wellbeing conversations

What you need to know

Refreshments: We do not provide refreshments for courses under 3 hours, you are welcome to bring beverages and/or snacks with you.

Cancellation fee: Your Division/Faculty will incur a £50 charge should you fail to attend on the day or cancel your place any later than three full working days before the course.

Sickness: If you are unable to attend the course due to sickness, please can you or a member of your team notify us by email (sd-course@bristol.ac.uk) as soon as possible on the day of the course, if not before.

Waiting list: Staff Development will operate a waiting list should this course become full. Because of this, places are non-transferable between colleagues.

How you book

Development courses should be discussed as part of a development plan agreed with your manager.

Each course will be open for bookings at 9 am on the day 8 weeks prior to the course date. If this date falls on a University closure day, the course will be released on the next working day.
