3D digitisation is the process of making a digital 3D copy of an object or place. This practical workshop is intended as an introduction to digitising 3D objects, whether for research or teaching purposes, to help share content more widely or to help protect original artefacts. The session will look at different types and properties of 3D models, some 3D digitisation techniques and possible outputs, before undertaking practical exercises in structured light scanning, laser scanning, photogrammetry and publishing content.
- By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the properties of a 3D model
- Create a digital 3D model, using a variety of techniques
- Publish a 3D model online
This workshop is run by Library Research Support.
